Description

The Caro-Kann is a common defense to the King's Pawn Opening in chess. After 1. e4 c6, Black allows White to establish an apparently strong center with 2. d4 d5, then challenges White for control of the center with ...c5 and ...Nc6. The positions that result often feature a pawn center, fluid piece play, and counterattacking possibilities for Black.
